Slack alternatives for small teams
If per-seat fees are the problem, a self-hosted workspace with chat, docs and meetings removes the seat meter. Here is how Dock fits as an alternative to Slack.
Why teams look for a Slack alternative
Cost grows with headcount
Per-seat pricing means the bill follows the team size.
Data location
Some teams want messages and files on their own server.
Too many tools
One workspace can replace several separate subscriptions.
What Dock gives you
All-in-one
Chat, meetings, docs, Base, calendar, tasks, drive, contacts.
No per-seat fee
You pay your own server.
Controls
Admin console, two-step login and an audit log.
What to check first
Before moving from Slack, list the features you rely on and compare them with the Dock feature pages. Dock does not have external-guest chat, recording, webinars or native mobile apps. If you need those, Slack may still be the right choice. See the honest comparison for details.
Questions
Is Dock a good Slack alternative?
For small teams that want chat, docs and meetings on their own server, yes. For needs outside that scope, check the comparison page.
