How to move from Lark to Dock, step by step
A two-week plan for importing your Lark history and docs, switching habits and cutting over, with what is not copied.

The short answer
Dock can import your Lark chat history and docs with a command-line sync. The safe way to move is to run both tools side by side for two weeks, import history in week one, switch habits in week two, then cancel Lark at renewal.
The plan
Set up Dock
Sign up, invite your team and check the basics: a message, a meeting and a file.
Dry run the import
The sync tool shows how many chats (last 90 days) and docs it would move. Nothing is written in a dry run.
Apply it
Docs upload into your private Dock Docs. Chats are saved as a bundle that an admin imports.
Switch habits
Recreate recurring meetings, move new docs to Dock Docs, and re-point bots to Bots and API.
Cut over
Confirm chats, docs and meetings work. Then downgrade Lark and keep a read-only export.
What is not copied
Sheets and Base tables
They stay in Lark.
Slides and mind maps
They stay in Lark.
Files and images inside chats
They stay in Lark; messages link back.
Some features

Where Dock fits
Dock is a self-hosted team workspace for small teams. It has channels and DMs with threads and search, video meetings in the same app (with recording, transcripts and AI summaries), real-time docs, tables, calendar, tasks and a drive. An MCP server lets AI agents such as Claude Code read and post in your channels, and there is a Lark history import.
It runs as one Node process with one SQLite file, so backups and moves are copying a file. There is no per-seat licence; your cost is your own server. You run the server yourself, and the integration list is smaller than the big hosted tools. See the Lark migration guide, the Lark comparison and the savings calculator.
Questions
Does the import keep who said what?
Imported groups are visible only to people who really were in them, once accounts are linked.
How long does it take?
Two weeks side by side is a safe plan.
Can I keep Lark for some things?
Yes. Keep it until your team stops opening it.
